What is Happening in East Turkistan
China is committing genocide toward the Uyghur people in East Turkistan, by detaining them in concentration camps and systematically torturing, raping, and organ-harvesting. Although China keeps denying its crime, it was widely covered by the media, the people's tribunal and even the United Nations published a report on this issue recently.
However, this could not stop tragedy from keep happening. China has launched a “zero covid” campaign in my homeland East Turkistan, despite the pandemic has been happening for the last three years and the rest of the world has moved on. The central government of China ordered the authority in East Turkistan to not only lock people inside their houses but to weld their doors from outside, with little consideration for natural disasters, sudden illnesses, and emergency situations.
The Campaign started end of July, and now one and half month has passed, there were very little to no food supply and medical treatment was provided to those people who were locked inside. And thus, kids started to be ill, and many have fallen into starvation, pregnant woman wasn't able to go to a hospital to give birth, and elders died alone in their homes with no attention given. In just 40 days, this campaign has taken away many lives, with horrific methods, some starved to death, some ill to death and some took away their own lives because they could not bear the pain anymore.
There was a teenage girl leaving a voice message to her mother, screaming, begging her mother to come to save her, and she was found dead in her house alone the next day. And her mother? Who knows, maybe died somewhere else in a concentration camp. Tortured and raped. Maybe she’s the lucky one, at least her body was found before it was rotted. A two years old girl died because of a fever, and her family could not bury her, so they kept her in their fridge hoping one day, they can get out and give her a proper funeral.
East Turkistan is occupied by China in 1949, it is common sense that there are no human rights in an occupied country, there is no human value in an occupied country, and there is no freedom in an occupied country.
China’s goal is to eliminate as much population as possible and assimilate the rest so that they can claim ownership of my land without any resistance. That being said, the only solution for our people, for Uyghurs, and other Turkic people in East Turkistan is to restore the country, the only way is independence. There are no other ways to solve this tragedy. We demand our freedom, we demand our independence.
As Albert Einstein said, “The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything.”
Please don’t be the one who destroys the world, do all you can to stop China from doing evil.
